Detail: “Baggage””
“Baggage ” is the compilation of my fears and trauma resulting from years with a toxic parent. Hateful insults and disregard for my wellbeing isolated me from the world. Her negativity made me believe I was worthless. At 12 when I got my first bra she said I looked like “a rooster in socks”. Working through it via my art has dulled the hurt.
The house represents my grandmother’s residence where my divorced mother and I lived in the attic. The drawers and shelves hold my fears and angst. My mother belittled my artwork but it became my solace

Wayfinder represents a map tattooed on a hand. If I lose my way, it keeps me on my path.

Mixed media with clay.
“Endless Summer” is a portrait of youthful exuberance. The little boy has no cares as he ties a dish towel around his neck and hurtles through the summer days.

Mixed media with glass.
“Icarus” is a portrait of hubris. Icarus thought he was invincible. He ignored his father, Daedalus, who warned him not to fly too close to the sun. Icarus paid for his egotistical high flying hijinks with his life as he went down in flames.
